Apple Picking 2009

With the evening temperatures creeping down into the 40's, the leaves changing color (and even beginning to fall a bit!) and football season in full swing, we decided to head out to Wasem's Fruit Farm to go apple picking this past weekend. It was my baby sister's first apple picking (although Mommy tells me she has been in utero) - I am, of course, a seasoned veteran having been before I turned one month old. The day was gorgeous - and the apples were awesome! I met my friend Sam there and we each took home 1/2 a bushel of apples (Jonathan, Golden delicious and Empire) and a 1/2 pint of raspberries. Of course, before we left, Daddy and I indulged in cider and cider donuts. You will notice my use of the patented "apple grabber" to pick some apples...

A Lazy Day Fishing

After a nice long nap (for both kids) one of the days last weekend, I woke up and said "let's go fishing Mommy and Daddy." Now, surely I said this because I expected to go right to the trout farm, where you could throw in some fishing line without a hook, let alone bait, and come up with a two-pounder. Evidently, this is not the case with the Huron River. Nevertheless, the four of us wandered down to the river and we had a blast! I caught my neck with a hook (and subsequently, without my knowledge, fished "hookless") and Remi caught plenty of goose poop but we all had a blast! Of course, it goes without saying that nary a fish was landed...

Love you, T and R. XOXOXOXOXOXO.

A day at the zoo

On Sunday we decided to make the hour drive to Toledo so I could see the elephants. For some reason, I'm REALLY into elephants right now... Well, we made it to the zoo and got to see the polar bears playing with their toys. It was so much fun to watch them jump on their ball and make big splashes in the water. After the polar bears we headed to the TRAIN!!! I got to see zebras, giraffes, ostriches and along with other animals that I can't remember. Then we ate a yummy picnic lunch and then it was off to see the elephants, They too, were very playful and trumpeting up a storm. After the elephants we checked out the new children section. I got to pet some goats and then go down this really cool slide that went through rock, I waded in the learning stream, played in the giant play house and inside forest, where I climbed trees, made a spiderweb, climbed a spiderweb, climbed a honeycomb and did lots of other really cools things. Yes, we brought Remi along, but honestly, I don't think she got how very cool the zoo can be, can you believe she actually fell asleep at the zoo! Craziness. She did play in the baby pool, but everything else was for big boys only!
